Edith Prudente is a Chester County artist who has been inspired to paint and draw since childhood. Her body of work includes a variety of subjects and approaches that are executed in highest quality French oil pastel.
“Although I am inspired by many things, the lions share of my studio time has been devoted to painting flowers. Sunflowers are one of my favorites because the endless variety of shape, color and texture give each flower its own distinct human-like expression.”
Edith served an internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art before earning her BFA at Moore College of Art and Design. She continues to challenge herself by working en plein air in different locations like Belize, Central America, painting with other professional artists and by visiting museums to study master drawings.
As a member of the Delaware County Art League and Chester County Art Association, Edith has participated in many exhibitions and received numerous awards. She was commissioned last summer to design the artwork for a local winery’s labels. She has exhibited at Yellow Springs, the Bianco Foundation, ArtForms gallery, Woodmere Art Museum, and the Alumni Gallery of Moore College of Art. She received the Kendal and Johnson Award at the Bianco Foundation’s Juried Exhibition.
