Mehran...

Born in Tehran in 1960, Mehran discovered his love of painting at the age of twelve and, shortly thereafter, began entering his work in shows and art competitions. He later studied graphic design and fine art at Moorhead State University in Minnesota while continuing to hone his talent and develop his artistic style. He comes from a well‑known Persian artist family and has studied under his uncles, Anoush (1924 – 1989) and Madjid, both renowned artists.

Mehran began painting professionally in 1987 in Munich, Germany and has worked in a variety of mediums and styles. His works include classical and contemporary florals and still lifes, impressionist and post‑impressionist landscapes cityscapes and coastal scenes and modern abstract paintings. He paints with oil on canvas and oil, acrylic and gouache on paper using both brush and palette knife techniques. Mehran’s paintings have been distributed and sold by art dealers throughout Europe, the United States, and Japan. He has also worked directly with galleries in Germany as well as Los Angeles, CA, Annapolis, MD, and Alexandria, VA. Currently, Mehran resides in the Washington metropolitan area.

In his words, “what inspires me to paint is the shear love of creating and transferring the images and ideas of many places I have visited onto the canvas, using both direct experience and imagination. I feel as if I am on an endless journey, learning more about my craft each time I approach my easel. This ongoing experience of discovering new ideas and techniques keeps me motivated and, I believe, keeps my work fresh and ever evolving. How an idea will form and shape itself on canvas is the most fascinating aspect of painting for me. It is a different world, time and place, created by using colors, shapes and forms and the end result is that I get to share it with others. My enthusiasm for and love of painting is without boundaries. It is my way of reaching out and communicating with the world and the people around me.”
