David Magnes was born in South Africa and educated at Eden College in Johannesburg. As a youth he participated in numerous show jumping events and this love for horses quickly extended into a creative talent. He began his career painting portraits of racehorses, along with racing and polo scenes. In addition to his equine art, David has also had various successful wildlife and landscape shows.
David is listed in the Dictionary of South African Painters and Sculptors. His work is well known in South Africa and has been exhibited in galleries in South Africa and the United States. Selected exhibitions include: Bedford Gallery, South Africa; Bishops Court Fine Art Gallery, South Africa; The Sporting Scene Gallery, New Jersey; Frame Concepts, Toronto; the Celeste Suzany Gallery, Saratoga Springs, NY. His work has been commissioned by high-profile clients such as the Oppenheimers of DeBeers and his paintings hang in private collections in the United States and throughout the world.
David moved to the U.S. in 2000 and now resides in Miami, Florida.
