Carol Crane...

“I showed artistic ability as a small child and was told I was going to be an artist. Maybe that started the whole thing…a passionate drive to express myself in this manner and the ability to do so.  Studies in formal art training followed and then painting on my own.”

Early works reflect traditional roots and do not reveal the core of modernism displayed in subsequent years.  Strong technical drawing creates solid linear shapes and vibrant energy characterizes the essence of each piece.  A constant throughout is the use of intense color with forms often silhouetted against flat grounds.

Carol’s art is a versatile body of work which includes many mediums: watercolor, charcoal and oil (the latter being a favorite of hers) and different subject matters: landscapes, fruits, flowers and figures of nudes, impish children and portraits.
