Ethel’s inspiration and passion for painting comes from the love of nature, with so many possibilities of sharing her own emotional responses. It is especially exciting for her when she captures people in action, out there enjoying life as she does. Painting various subjects in both watercolor and oil, keeps painting vibrant and interesting for her.
Ms. Backenstose is a self-taught artist and has taken a number of workshops over the years.
Ethel is a member of the Chester County Art Association in West Chester, PA, Artist Circle, Flying Colors, and Healing Arts. Her work is exhibited in local art shows and galleries throughout the year and her works can be found in many private and public collections.
