Carol Crane

Carol Crane began her artistic journey showing talent early in life. She has an extensive education in the Fine Arts that includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rosemont College and additional studies at the University of Oklahoma, the Philadelphia College of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. “I showed artistic ability as a small child and was told that I was going to be an artist.” A desire to express her feelings fueled her passion to paint and draw.

Carol's painting style is uniquely rich and vibrant in color; alive with expressive brush strokes presented mostly in oil on canvas or wood board. She captures surprises in nature with impressions of light and layers of pigment, creating warmth and shadows. Her work is an accumulation of life experiences and travels. Through each colorful stroke, a painting evolves which describes her world. Imagination applied to nature creates traditional paintings that are thoroughly modern. Seeking to express the emotional texture of a person or place, she thereby shares the vision she sees..."I like to twist nature a bit - to look at fields and flowers rendering them in my own way.

Carol taught art at the International School in the Dominican Republic and worked with underprivileged children in the Philadelphia area. Her work is represented locally at Longwood Art Gallery in Kennett Square and is included in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
